Green Hills Literary Lantern

Skeleton Key

Nearly the whole

substance of its bit

is filed away,

this object the bone

beneath the short-lived

flesh of security,

drifting skeletally

from lock to lock

and opening them

so easily

it makes one wonder

whether the worlds

they shut away

really needed fastening

in the first place,

the lock and the key

the sides of a coin

but whose shining matters.
