Ribbons

The things you let go return with ribbons on them,

Gifts,

Bounties,

Unrecognizable mugs from old shots.

You can’t get rid of the past until the past jumps

On your shoulders like a dog

And licks your neck,

Breathes on your stiffness.

I am the part of your past that keeps unfolding into the future.

I hope that you will carry me a long way.

We are so mixed up like a bundle of laundry.

My sleeve is in your remembrance and we lie down like snow.
